Mandela was aware of the importance of education for the existing society, seeing it as the most powerful weapon, which can be used to change the world. We also believe that education is the way out of poverty, and towards more peace, justice and a sustainable world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the rural parts of Cameroon only 20% of the children can go to pre-schools, while in urban areas the number is 55 %. Due to family situations and insufficient financial means, only 53% of children and young people can attend secondary school.                                  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Shepherd Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Good Shepherd Academy is the establishment of a bilingual secondary and high school for 350 children in Bafut, a neighbouring village of Bamenda. The school accepts children from different cultural, religious, social and socio-economic backgrounds. Special importance is attributed to education, sustainable agriculture, physical and mental well-being and spiritual growth. Through the fields planted in the area, the children and young people also directly learn about agricultural activities and their direct processing. In addition to school lessons, there is also enough space for playing and running around, especially on the soccer field. The school is therefore one of the best in Bamenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the ongoing conflict, however, the children in the Anglophone part of Cameroon have been unable to attend school for three years now. The danger of being shot is too high, as school attendance was banned as a form of protest by the separatists. In the Good Shepherd Home there is no possibility for a secret education either. This would expose the teachers to a great danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this reason, SEAD wants to provide the children the opportunity to go back to school regularly as soon as possible. This is not yet possible in Bamenda, but thanks to donations, some of the children can attend in Yaound\u00e9, the capital of Cameroon. The situation is safer in this area, however, accommodation and school fees must be paid there. We would also like to support especially the young adults with their studies. Here we are also very happy to offer sponsorships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The field of education is very important to us and is especially compromised by the precarious political situation. Nevertheless, the human right for education must be granted and SEAD would like to support what is possible under these circumstances, through your donation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
